Today, California State Senator Melissa Melendez (R- Lake Elsinore) participated in an event where hundreds of toys were donated to the California Highway Patrol CHIPS for Kids program.
“In what has been such a challenging year, it is uplifting to see our communities come together by spreading some holiday cheer,” said Melendez. “I hope these toys will provide joyful smiles and happy memories for children and struggling families.”
The CHiPs for kids program is a holiday toy drive sponsored by the California Highway Patrol. Each year Senator Melendez has partnered with CHP to help provide toys which are given to needy families during the holidays. This year, Senator Melendez partnered with numerous small businesses throughout Riverside County to provide toy drop-off locations to help make it easier to accept toy donations.
“I was honored to continue my partnership with the CHiPS for kids program and I want to thank all the people from around the district who donated and dropped off hundreds of toys that will make spirits bright this holiday,” said Senator Melendez. “I especially want to thank our small businesses who graciously allowed their locations to be used as drop-off points as they continue to survive through these harsh economic times.”
